Solo Leveling
Summary
A-1 Picture ’s adaptation ofSolo Levelingis lauded for the flashiness of its fights , but its most recent episode show that they are missing a few fundamental elements . While Jinwoo ’s scrap against the boss monsterIgris the Bloodredis visually exciting , it struggles to justify its purpose to the story as a whole , or as a affaire d’honneur worth memory . In other words , it feels pointless .
While the anime painstakingly seize Jinwoo bouncing around the stadium while brawling with an armoured giant , ultimately , it does not build up to anything meaningful . The fight even fails to make a satisfying pay - off when ingest on its own merits . or else , when confronted by a conundrum , Jinwoo succeeds not by any inherent merit , but by dumb hazard and lots of screaming .
WhileSolo Levelingis still a strong serial publication with plentitude of merits , this combat prove that itsstyle lack substance , though it does its best to pretend otherwise .
Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will indeed be the home for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ’s third time of year outside of Japan .
Jinwoo and Igris’s Epic-Looking Duel Lacks a Reason to Care About It
Original webcomic created by Chugong
The engagement against Igris inepisode # 11 ofSolo Levelingis considered one of the mellow points of the floor , to the degree it was even cod in the anime ’s opening night . While it is initially exciting to see Jinwoo and his armored nemesis throw each other across the throne way , the fighting soon devolves into two blurry physical body pummel each other with nothing to show for it . In the ending , when Jinwoo does defeat Igris , it is just a glad accident- the tongue slips into the centre slits of Igris ’s armour . While pile of unelaborated , exciting animation is dedicated to the moment , it is purely decorative .
It does not help that the grandness of the scrap feels mirky . While Jinwoo has an overarching goal of cure his female parent , Igris does n’t stand in the way of life of that . Instead , the whole thing is a result of Jinwoo trying to clear a " Job - modification " pursuance . Solo Leveling’spower growth often feels circular for that reason . So much luxuriant invigoration was created , only to end withJinwoo ’s strength earning him the right to earn more strength , with an invisible helmet being the payoff for Jinwoo risking his life .
Good Fight Scenes Need More than Flashy Animation
Jinwoo ’s reliance on game skills and brute strengthis disappointing , consideringthe problem - solving skills he displayed in Episode 2 . Igris ’s armour could have provided a logical job to solve with his armoury , but alternatively A-1 replaced portrayal with visual dissonance that ends with just one prosperous stab .
Expensive but unengaging fights have been seen elsewhere in the serial too , such as in Episode 9 where , despite the unequalled nature of knife fights , Jinwoo ’s battle with Kang Taeshik becomes a mere showdown between game skills . The best fight scenes in Zanzibar copal have excited stakes and uniquely choreographed sequences to rig them apart , and so far , Solo Levelinghas little of either .
