As humans who take up king instantly from the author , they become " Dark Wielders , " corrupted by the raw power and growing twisted and evil .

Thethird Empyrean book title , Onyx Storm , was announced in March , and with it came a few promotional Instagram bobbin . One featured a voiceover of Tairn talking to someone and about Violet , saying she had to be quick for the war heading their manner . Another one was plainly a series of text box that described Violet having to save Xaden ’s soul and that ’s likely the tempest being referred to in the title .
A further cue is good in the title . Repeatedly inFourth WingandIron Flame , Violet bring up to Xaden ’s centre as " atomic number 79 - flecked onyx . " Considering it ’s a rather impossible eye color , the wording is substantial , and it ca n’t be a happenstance that " onyx " was chosen for the title . To Violet , fighting to make unnecessary Xaden from the venin depravity threatening to overtake him will be the knockout battle for her and Xaden inOnyx Storm . The violent storm in enquiry will be the one bait in spite of appearance of him as he fight for mastery between his human side and his venin side . unluckily , Xaden ’s heady and selfish conclusion to tap into the source at the end ofIron Flamedoesn’t just affect him and Violet , but will impactFourth Wing ’s firedrake , too .
How Xaden Will Cause Problems For Tairn & Sgaeyl
The Complicated Bonds Of The Group Make Everything Messier
There were already hints inIron Flamethat Xaden ’s conclusion would cause problems for Tairn and Sgaeyl ’s human relationship in the future . When Xaden tapped into the source and became corrupted , Sgaeyl was initially the only one who knew and monish Tairn and Violet to be gentle with Xaden . She is protective of her rider in the same way that Tairn is protective of Violet . It will undoubtedly make even more problem than the tight - knit grouping already had .
Xaden ’s 2nd signet power was already a challenge for him in the Empyrean serial publication , but the third rule book , Onyx Storm , will make it even bad .
As her better half , Tairn is Sgaeyl ’s priority – except for Xaden . similarly , Tairn invest Violet ’s safety above others . Now that Xaden will be fighting to not reverse full venin inOnyx tempest , Tairn will be even more suspicious of him and protective of Violet . If he crosses a cable that Tairn thinks is a step too far , he ’ll have no problems clashing with Xaden , even threatening him . It puts Sgaeyl in a terrible position : she knows how life-threatening the venin are , but she ’s also firm to her rider . There will sure be a few times in the third playscript that navigating the thorny field have a rift between Sgaeyl and her mate . Considering dragons ' ferocity , if the duet ever fight , even if not physical , it could be a bestial conflict , indeed .
