talk withEntertainment Weekly , Lincoln , Gurira , and Gimple break they always think forThe Ones Who Live ’s endingto have Rick and Michonne reunify with their kids . They also excuse why they did n’t have a tragical end to the show , and why killing either of the primary duo off would have been disappointing . check into out what Lincoln , Gurira , and Gimple had to say below :
Scott Gimple : To my recollection , that was the end and we were work on the journey to that . But I have frightful working memory and I have two masses that were there with me , so I want to get a confirmation on that . I truly believe that that was always the conclusion and we were strike towards it . I do n’t believe there was ever a world where either one of those character did n’t stay on with the other . I might be wrong .
Danai Gurira : It definitely was that we were travel towards that ending . There was definitely never an idea of like , " Oh , allow ’s let it be a tragic ending . " That was not on the board , I do n’t cerebrate at any breaker point . It was always like , how do we get them together ? How do we bring Rick his happy ending , and Michonne her glad ending ? That ’s what I recall .
Andrew Lincoln : Yeah . I consider it would ’ve been a turn of a catgut puncher if we ’d done six episode , got everybody back , and then vote down them both . I mean , that would ’ve been a bit rude .
The Ones Who Live Gives Rick & Michonne A Fitting Ending
The final episode ofThe single Who Livewraps up its story , with Rick and Michonne stopping theCRM ’s nefarious plansand going home , just like they said they would . Michonne also now knows her family is safe , with their enemies destroyed and their home protect from any external forces that could cause them harm .
A core understanding their ending together is so meet is because of how much prison term the two have been away from their family , peculiarly Rick . While Michonne has been gone for around a class or two since her departure in season 10,Rick has n’t encounter Judith in at least seven year , get their return all the more excited . SinceThe Ones Who Liveis a beloved history , it makes common sense for the last vista to excogitate this by impart its characters a happy ending .
Due to just how definitive the last installment is , it’sunclear if Rick and Michonne would ever returnforThe Ones Who Liveseason 2 . The duo ’s return home makes it less likely their story will continue anytime presently , having earned a happy ending through all the hardship they ’ve endured . However , with the show have so much critical praise and feature two classic characters from the franchise , anything is possible . For now , though , the spinoff ’s definitive final scene offers a happy ending .
